Former NYPD Officer Peter Liang gets probation in fatal shooting

A judge sentenced former NYPD Officer Peter Liang Tuesday to five years probation and 800 hours of community service for fatally shooting an East New York man. The judge also downgraded the jury verdict that found Liang guilty of manslaughter in the second degree, and reduced the charge to criminally negligent homicide. Liang was convicted in February of fatally shooting Akai Gurley inside a stairwell of the Pink Houses in 2014.
