...AREAS OF FLOODING LIKELY LATER THIS AFTERNOON INTO THURSDAY...
.STRONG LOW PRESSURE WILL TRACK FROM THE GREAT LAKES INTO QUEBEC
TODAY. A TRAILING COLD FRONT WILL SLOWLY PUSH THROUGH OUR REGION
TONIGHT AND BE OFF THE COAST THURSDAY MORNING. THE COMBINATION OF
RAIN AND MELTING SNOW WILL PRODUCE FLOODING NOT ONLY OF POOR DRAINAGE
AREAS BUT A NUMBER OF STREAMS AND SMALLER RIVERS AS WELL.
...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON EST TODAY THROUGH
THURSDAY AFTERNOON...
THE FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR
* PORTIONS OF NORTHERN DELAWARE...NORTHEAST MARYLAND...NEW
JERSEY AND PENNSYLVANIA...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...IN
NORTHERN DELAWARE...NEW CASTLE. IN NORTHEAST MARYLAND...CECIL.
IN NEW JERSEY...CAMDEN...GLOUCESTER...HUNTERDON...MERCER...
MIDDLESEX...NORTHWESTERN BURLINGTON...SALEM...SOMERSET AND
WESTERN MONMOUTH. IN PENNSYLVANIA...BERKS...DELAWARE...EASTERN
CHESTER...EASTERN MONTGOMERY...LEHIGH...LOWER BUCKS...
PHILADELPHIA...UPPER BUCKS...WESTERN CHESTER AND WESTERN
MONTGOMERY.
* FROM NOON EST TODAY THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON
* THE COMBINATION OF MELTING SNOW AND PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN IS
LIKELY TO PRODUCE FAIRLY WIDESPREAD LOW-LYING...POOR DRAINAGE
FLOODING LATER THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. MINOR TO MODERATE
RIVER FLOODING IS LIKELY TONIGHT AND THURSDAY ACROSS PORTIONS
OF THE RARITAN AND PASSAIC BASINS OF NORTH CENTRAL NEW JERSEY
AND THE SCHUYLKILL BASIN IN PENNSYLVANIA. ROAD CLOSURES ARE
POSSIBLE LATE TODAY INTO THURSDAY IN POOR DRAINAGE AREAS OR NEAR
ANY FLOODED STREAMS.
* THE EXTENT OF THE FLOODING WILL DEPEND ON THE TOTAL RAINFALL.
THERE IS LITTLE DOUBT THAT MOST IF NOT ALL OF THE SNOW WILL BE
MELTED BY THURSDAY MORNING. THAT SNOW MELT RUNOFF OF 1 TO 2
INCHES COMBINED WITH THREE QUARTERS OF AN INCH TO 1.5 INCHES OF
RAINFALL WILL BE ENOUGH TO CAUSE A FAIRLY EXTENSIVE REGION OF
FLOODING CREEKS, STREAMS AND SMALLER RIVERS. THE RESULTS OF THE
RUNOFF SHOULD BE APPROACHING CREST THURSDAY OR HAVING ALREADY
PEAKED BY THEN.
