Update #Rescue; 3:29PM; 825 S Hill St; #DTLA; 27 y/o M worker (unk craft) was approximately 20' above ground atop (that section of a) multi-story construction site; Was impaled in torso by at least two pieces of 1 inch diameter rebar after "a panel" fell (NFD); LAFD Paramedic crew from experimental "LAFD Quick Response" unit deployed in downtown, arrived very quickly and sprinted to/medically stabilized patient, while using tools (including rotary saw from construction crew) to swiftly cut rebar (which remains impaled) and coordinate with additional LAFD responders and workers to utilize construction site crane (and not LAFD ladder truck) to lower patient to street level in LAFD litter basket; LAFD Medical Director (Emergency Physician) was on-scene and accompanied patient to area trauma center, where he is in critical condition; LAFD PIO David Ortiz remains at scene; Cal-OSHA will investigate; NFD; Dispatched Units: E209 FR201 RA11 E210 T10 T9 BC1 MD1; Brian Humphrey | | Email subscriptions powered by FeedBlitz, LLC, 365 Boston Post Rd, Suite 123, Sudbury, MA 01776, USA. | | |
